Volvo Penta D6 service intervals

The Volvo Penta D6 (D6-300 through D6-480) follows a fixed calendar-or-hours schedule, whichever comes first. Oil and oil filter change: every 200 running hours or annually. Fuel filters (primary and secondary): every 400 hours or annually. Air filter inspection: every 400 hours, replacement when restriction indicator triggers. Coolant change: every 4 years or 4000 hours, use Volvo Penta coolant (green, not orange OAT). Impeller inspection: every 200 hours or annually, replace at any sign of vane damage. Belt inspection: every 200 hours. Turbocharger: no scheduled service, but oil quality matters, turbo failures on the D6 are almost always oil-related. Valve clearance check: every 1500 hours. Injector inspection: as needed based on smoke or performance. The first major service (500 hours) is often called the "500-hour service" and includes valve check, coolant test, and full injector inspection.
